Tomato Sauce for Pasta or Pizza

Makes 4 servings. *Vegan, Gluten-free

Ingredients
  

  • 1 28- oz can low-sodium diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tsp fennel seed optional
  • fresh sage basil, and/or parsley (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Put all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer on medium-low heat for 1 hour.
  • For a meat sauce, add ground beef about halfway through, or roll meatballs and cook in sauce.
