Recently I had the pleasure of seeing some of my favorite people, who also happen to be two of the busiest people I know. Jack is getting an engineering degree at Clemson, and Tamara is working full-time plus getting her master’s degree. Needless to say, Mike and I don’t see them enough.
They were some of my original meal plan recipe testers, and they signed up for a subscription in the spring. Every time I see them they tell me how delicious the recipes are and how happy they are to have joined the meal plans. They are seriously encouraging.
I had two separate conversations with them about this, and both of them said something that intrigued me: namely, that the meal plans had improved their quality of life in general, and their relationship in particular, not just the quality of what they were eating.
This was certainly a goal I had when I first conceptualized The Unprepared Kitchen, but it was amazing to have them actually say it.
I asked them if they would write down what they told me so I could share it with you.
Jack: “My wife and I have a lot going on—we take turns being in school, and she is working full-time and taking one graduate level class at a time. This meal plan really simplifies our lives by giving us a plan to follow and a grocery list that we don’t think about. It definitely saves us money, too, because we don’t haphazardly buy a bunch of groceries that end up going bad before we use them, and we don’t give up and go out as often because we have no idea what to have for dinner. There’s something really nice about always having a nice meal for dinner every night, too. The Unprepared Kitchen has excellent recipes that have not disappointed me yet, and has been so great for us!”
Tamara: “I really feel like these meal plans have enhanced the quality of our marriage. Having something so delicious and nutritious makes me feel like I’m eating a luxurious meal out with my husband. It makes dinner more of an experience together. And Jack is absolutely thrilled about having something delicious and different every night that he’s actually willing to cook the recipes himself! Sometimes we double a recipe that looks good and have extra leftovers to take a break from cooking during the week, so the plans are very flexible. Subscribing to this meal plan has redeemed our dinners from chaotic, last-minute, bland meals to exciting, healthy dishes that we look forward to experiencing and savoring together.”
